Endeavour Emblem Structure, Zaabeel Park, Dubai

About the project: The Endeavour emblem structure signifies Dubai's great civic endeavour, reaching to the sky in a diversified search for human advancement. The structure is made of polished stainless steel wands supporting floor decks which are wrapped in a double skin sun shield exterior glass facade. The structural wands are tapering from a base of 5 meters in diameter to 1.75 m average at the floor levels to 450mm at the top finishing into lighted cones, with an overall maximum height of 170 m. The platforms are accessed from the podium level via glazed elevators which travel on rails fixed to the central structural steel wand. Each deck provides an experience in the study of one of a number of fields: climate exploration, human diversity, geological understanding, medical advancement, art and culture, stars and space exploration. The caf area is located midway up the structure. The proposal includes a cable car connection to the nearest Dubai Metro station to make the emblem structure more central to the day to day life of the city. The podium provides gathering space for people arriving and departing by cable car, ticketing and a social meeting place. The library, conference rooms and service facilities are provided within the podium.
